Individual and business assistance applications will be available starting noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, for the community to access Sarasota County's Coronavirus Relief Fund allocations of $18.9 million.

Fort Myers man facing charges in Sarasota grand theft case
Brent Acord, 37, of Fort Myers, has been arrested and is facing two felony charges including Grand Theft (over $20,000) and Criminal Use of Personal Information (over $5,000) in connection to a criminal case in the City of Sarasota.

Sarasota Police Share Back to School Safety Reminders
On Monday, August 31, 2020, classes will resume for students in the City of Sarasota. As students head back to class, the Sarasota Police Department wants to remind drivers there is a zero-tolerance policy for speeding in school zones and passing school buses that have stop signs extended.

Sarasota man arrested & facing two charges of sexual battery
Gerald Hobson, 25, of 2431 Chilk Avenue, Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing two charges of sexual battery. Sarasota Police detectives have reason to believe there may be additional victims. Hobson has three felony convictions from 2018.

Two arrests made over the weekend in connection to July shooting and August shooting
Two arrests were made over the weekend by Sarasota Police officers in connection to July shooting and August shooting. The July shooting happened in the 2900 block of North Orange Avenue and the August shooting happened in the 3000 block of Old Bradenton Road.

Two shooting incidents under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department
Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are investigating two shooting incidents that happened Wednesday night and Thursday morning. This is the third and fourth shooting incidents since Sunday. It is unknown if any of the shootings this week are connected.
