Road Closures for Veterans Day Parade – Sunday, November 11, 2018
City of Sarasota, in conjunction with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, will co-host the annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. in downtown Sarasota. There will be several road closures and vehicle tow away zones for the parade beginning November 11, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Sarasota man charged with 17 counts of child pornography following cyber-tips
Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department have arrested a Sarasota man after a search warrant was executed at his apartment following two cyber-tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Michael Grider, 46, of Columbia Court, Sarasota, has been arrested.

Sarasota Police Collect More than 40 Pounds of Unwanted Drugs During National Take-Back Day
On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Officers with the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit collected 44.5 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescriptions drugs during the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Tory Mitchell, 20, of Palmadelia Avenue, Sarasota, has been arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine (felony), Carrying a Concealed Firearm (felony), Possession of Marijuana under 20 grams (misdemeanor) and received a citation for a tint violation following a traffic stop on Saturday.
