Attempt to Locate Individuals Seen Moments before Fire at Pioneer Park Playground
Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department, in collaboration with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, are investigating a suspicious fire that happened at a playground at Pioneer Park, 1121 Cocoanut Avenue, Sarasota, at approximately 9 p.m., last night, Monday, February 25, 2019.

Remains of Jabez Spann Located in rural Manatee County
Tuesday, February 19, 2019, the Sarasota Police Department learned though the testing conducted by a forensic dental expert that the remains of Jabez Spann, 14, were located in rural Manatee County over the weekend.

Suspect hospitalized for ingesting drugs during traffic stop
On Sunday, February 17, 2019, Govinda Howell, 40, of Sarasota, was arrested and is facing charges of Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer without Violence following a traffic stop where he ingested suspected narcotics.

Vandalism to Unconditional Surrender statue under investigation
This morning, February 19, 2019, at approximately 12:53 a.m., Officers with the Sarasota Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of North Gulfstream Avenue and Bayfront Drive reference to an unknown individual spray painting ‘#MeToo’ on the Unconditional Surrender statue.

Additional Arrests Made in Assault of Off-Duty Sarasota Officer
On February 7, 2019, just after 12 p.m., an off-duty Sarasota Police officer was jogging at Payne Park, 2050 Adams Lane, Sarasota, when he noticed a homeless individual being harassed, pushed and hit by a group of teenagers.
