City Hall to observe New Year’s holiday
City administration offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.

Portion of School Ave. remains temporarily closed to vehicles until Jan. 18
UPDATE: School Avenue between Ringling Boulevard and Novus Street will remain temporarily closed to traffic until Friday, January 18, 2019. The temporary closure is being extended due to inclement weather and holiday closures of concrete and asphalt companies.

Sarasota Man Arrested for Trafficking in MDMA
Dalton Harney, 19, of Oarsman Court, Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing charges of Trafficking in MDMA after selling to undercover Sarasota Police detectives from September through November.

Sarasota Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison for Drug Trafficking

Sarasota man arrested in connection to Robbery and Two Burglaries
Elijah Smith, 46, of Chilk Avenue, Sarasota, has been arrested for two counts of burglary and one count of robbery in connection to a string of crimes that occurred between November 14th and November 30th throughout the City of Sarasota.

Former Sarasota Physician Found Guilty of Practicing Medicine without a License
On Thursday afternoon, Ronald Wheeler, 71, of Sarasota, was found guilty of Practicing Medicine without a License in connection to a July 2017 case. Wheeler refused a two-year sentence to plead guilty before his trial and will be sentenced later this month.

Sarasota Police to Increase Patrols During the Holiday Season
To discourage crimes of opportunity during the holiday season, the Sarasota Police Department will be increasing patrols throughout the City of Sarasota, specifically in the north district, where there has been an increase in violent crime since January 1, 2018.

Road Closures for Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade – Saturday, December 1, 2018
The annual Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 7 p.m. The parade will begin at Main Street and U.S. 301 in downtown Sarasota. The parade will end at J.D. Hamel Park at Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue.
