    The signalized HAWK pedestrian crosswalk at US 41-First Street is now deactivated. Pedestrians are directed to use the crosswalks on US 41 at Fruitville Road and Main Street. The crosswalk at on Gulfstream Avenue-Golden Gate Point is also open to pedestrians.

    John M. Smith, 47, of Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing charges of sexual battery on a victim under 12 by an offender over 18. Smith is being held in the Sarasota County Jail. Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are asking them to call Detective Maria Llovio.

    Phillip Stutzman, 45, pleaded no contest, was adjudicated guilty, and was sentenced on Thursday to five years in prison with the Florida Department of Corrections and 10 years probation after being charged with multiple felony counts in 2019 of Unlicensed Practice of a Healthcare Professional.
