City, Downtown Improvement District kick off inaugural Fresh Fridays Nov. 5
The inaugural Fresh Fridays celebration, “Best Night Ever,” kicks off Friday, Nov. 5 from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. under the stars rain or shine in downtown Sarasota with live entertainment, dazzling light displays and plentiful food opportunities in a pedestrian-only area.

Road Closures for Veterans Day Parade – Thursday, November 11, 2021
The City of Sarasota, in conjunction with the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, will co-host the annual Veterans Day Parade on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 10 a.m. in downtown Sarasota. There will be several road closures and vehicle tow-away zones for the parade.

Saprito Pier reopens to public

Bradenton man arrested and facing charges of Vehicular Homicide & Manslaughter following June 2021 crash
Jordan Schopfer, 30, of Bradenton, has been arrested in Manatee County by the United States Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force in connection to a deadly crash that happened in June 2021 in the City of Sarasota. The crash was investigated by the Sarasota Police Department.

Portion of Shade Ave. to be closed Nov. 1-5
The 600 to 700 block of Shade Avenue will be closed to traffic from Nov. 1-5 while crews remove the railroad ties and crossing from the roadway as part of the Sarasota County Legacy Trail project.

Sarasota Man Arrested on Charges of Capital Sexual Battery
Kerry Hill, 58, of Sarasota, has been arrested and is facing charges of Capital Sexual Battery with a Victim under 12. He was arrested on Monday, October 25, 2021. Hill is a registered sexual offender.

Sarasota Police Department Partnering with State Organizations for White Cane Day on October 15, 2021
White Cane Awareness Day is celebrated annually on October 15th. The day was established in 1964 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to raise awareness for those who are visually impaired and carry a white cane. It is why the Sarasota Police Department is taking part in White Cane Awareness Day.
