The Sarasota Police Department executed a search warrant at a home at 1331 15th Street, Sarasota on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, just after 7 a.m. This is the second time a search warrant has been executed at this home in the last several months.

William Devonshire, 52, a suspect in two homicides in the City of Sarasota from earlier this year, died over the weekend at the Sarasota County Jail. The Sarasota Police Department will now close the homicide case that happened in February 2022 and the homicide case that happened in March 2022.

The Sarasota Police Department has completed its High Visibility Enforcement program to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. The City of Sarasota ranks in the top 25 cities in the state of Florida for traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 30, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue in Sarasota. There will be several tow-away zones and street closure notices that will be in place on Monday.

Sarasota Police are investigating a missing person after a woman went into the water with a friend off of South Lido between 7:30 p.m and 8 p.m on May 21, 2022. The friend made it back to shore but the woman did not return to shore. On May 22, 2022, the missing woman's body was recovered.
