Watering restrictions take effect May 12
City residents will be under lawn watering restrictions beginning Tuesday after the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) issued a water shortage order in response to recent rainfall shortages.

Community encouraged to register for Alert Sarasota County

Bradenton woman arrested & facing more than 260 charges related to prescription fraud
Kelly A. Gaffney, 49, of Bradenton, has been arrested and is facing 241 felony charges and 26 misdemeanor charges including trafficking in morphine, trafficking in oxycodone, criminal use of personal identification and possession of prescription blanks.

Couple arrested & facing felony charges; Loaded firearm found in stroller
A couple has been arrested in Sarasota after an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The weapon, a fully loaded 9mm handgun, was found by Sarasota Police officers under the couple’s stroller where their infant child was sitting.

Lift Station 87 building exterior nears completion; Intermittent traffic delays expected April 23
Trucks delivering roof panels to Lift Station 87 will occasionally impede traffic on Mound Street at Luke Wood Park throughout the day on Thursday, April 23. Flatbed semi-trailers will be delivering precast, hollow-core concrete roof panels to the Lift Station 87 site.

Three men arrested & facing felony charges following theft of copper wire
Michael Combs, 48, of Bradenton; Robert Branchfield, 28, of Sarasota; and Eddie Goretcki, 41, of Sarasota, have been arrested and are facing multiple felony charges in connection to copper wire being stolen from subcontractors who were conducting business in the City of Sarasota.
